Brazil Nut is the seed of a tropical evergreen tree that grows in large forests in the Amazon River basin. The trees are not cultivated, propogation is entirely by chance sowing of the seed, usually by animals. The shell is extremely hard and must be crushed to obtain the kernel which contains the oil.
